Well, the "X" is symbolic of something inhibiting us to speak up; inhibiting us to have a voice; inhibiting us from seeing value in our own words, thoughts, and opinions. That part is more straight forward than that of the color red. As an artist, I place much importance on selecting colors to be not only pleasing visually, but that have a meaning significant to the piece. The color red is often associated with pain and suffering. This makes sense: red is the color of blood. But, one cannot stop there. Red is also a color symbolic of power; the color symbolic of control. Being a popular color of lipstick, the red "X" can also be interpreted as being silenced by the commercialized standard of beauty; of being bound by a standard of unrealistic perfection.
So, yeah, that's why the red "X".
Thanks for everyone's support.
