We Will Not Be Silenced is a photo campaign created to combat the way women are silenced everyday. Our goal is to open up a meaningful conversation about abuse, harassment, and commercialized beauty standards. WWNBS was launched on Oct. 15, 2014, six months from the kidnapping of 276 Nigerian girls from their school, and will run for 100 days, a new picture being released everyday. Will you be silent? #nosilence

Day 100
We are not meant to hide behind blankets of insecurities, fear, and shame. We were built to preserve. We were built to shine.
In a world where rape, harassment, human trafficking, and abuse are rampant, we can not allow ourselves be silenced. Through education, communication, and open conversations we can work towards a future where women don't have to hold their keys between their fingers as they walk to their cars at night; a future where every child can be educated; a future where women's bodies are not used as marketing tools by companies; a future where we can all exist without fear. We will not allow ourselves to be treated unjustly; we will not be coerced into believing we are not good enough.
As our campaign comes to a close on this, our 100th photo, we pose one question:
Will you be silenced?
#nosilence
I would like to take a moment to thank the amazing people and organizations I have worked with over the last 5 months to prep, construct, and execute the We Will Not Be Silenced photo campaign. Thank you to the photographers I was privileged enough to work with: Zoe Weiman (zoewphotography.squarespace.com), Hannah Elzer, Judy Couja, Jenna Lui, and Everett Barton.
Thank you to our partners: Perks of Being Clothing (perksofbeingdifferent.com), the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita (dvc-scv.org), and The Proof in Scars (facebook.com/TheProofInScars).
Thank you to my sister, Gabriella Fenelon, who helped with hair.
Thank you to my parents Andy and Maria Fenelon who not only put up with all the photo shoots, but advised me on how to run this campaign effectively and encouraged me to keep going.
And, finally, a HUGE thank you to the 89 individuals who were photographed for this project.
Truly, without this entire team, the We Will Not Be Silenced photo campaign would not have been made possible.
Thank you,
Daniella Fenelon

Day 97
"[When] a girl goes on chat in a video game, she receives crude comments from... boys and grown men. So girls, like myself, stay off chats and generally away from online multiplayer environments because they are hostile. One time, I was in a Halo matchmaking game. My character was female and it is easy to tell the difference between the male and female charterers... As soon as I got on... six or seven of the... male players changed... to [feminine] colors to try to get me to talk to them." -Zoe Weiman

Day 79
"Look around; everyone of us is beautiful in our own way. There is so much hatred in the world that we don't need, and Perks is here to change that."
Perks of Being Different is a California-based clothing company that celebrates our differences and fosters individuality. We Will Not Be Silenced has partnered with Perks for a two week photo collaboration beginning today.
In this new year, Perks of Being Different, We Will Not Be Silenced, and the millions of women who have been victims of injustice are asking you to "[swear] never to be silent whenever and wherever human beings endure suffering and humiliation." And remember that "neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented." (Elie Wiesel)
